Dashain tika is Wednesday 21 October: what time it is in Croatia, and how to celebrate on a work day
Bijaya Dashami, the main tika day, falls on a normal Wednesday in Croatia. The Nepali tika time of 10:26 is 06:41 here. Here is a simple plan to keep Dashain alive far from home.

Dashain's big day is almost here, and in Croatia it is just another working Wednesday. Here is how to still catch the tika moment.[1][2]
The dates: Bijaya Dashami, the main tika day, is Wednesday 21 October 2026. Phulpati was on 17 October, and the festival ends with Kojagrat Purnima on Sunday 25 October. Sources differ by a day on Maha Navami (19 or 20 October), so check your own panchang.[2][3]
The time: the Nepal panchang committee set the tika sait at 10:26 Nepal time, facing west. Croatia is on summer time until 25 October, so that is 06:41 in Croatia (Nepal is 3 hours 45 minutes ahead). The Nepali Pandit Sangh UK lists its own earlier time of 8:45 for the UK, so ask your local priest or elders which one your family follows.[1][4]
Croatia does not give a day off for Dashain, so plan around work. Dashain is not a public holiday here; the Croatian public holidays are listed in our shopping-calendar article, and the next ones are 1 and 18 November.
What to do: 1) Set an alarm for 06:30 and receive the tika by video call from your parents or elders in Nepal. 2) If you work a shift, ask your supervisor early for a late start or an hour off, and offer to swap. Do not skip work without telling anyone. 3) Make tika with rice, curd and red colour at home, even if a small one. 4) Cook a simple festive meal on Sunday, when most Nepalis are free. 5) Send your blessings and a photo to family in Nepal.
If you must work on a Sunday or holiday, check your payslip for the extra pay; our guide on overtime, night and Sunday pay shows what to look for. Say 'Sretan blagdan' (happy holiday) to Croatian colleagues and explain Dashain: it is a nice way to build friendships at work.
